Description
Whether it's a burst pipe, fire, or burglary—your belongings are important to you. If something is lost or destroyed, we immediately take care of the financial damage. Household contents insurance protects your items against damage from fire, water, theft, and severe weather and replaces the item at its new value in case of a claim, so you are financially ready to start over immediately.
Your coverage is worldwide, for example, during a burglary at a hotel while traveling. Your belongings are also insured in case of gross negligence. That means: If you forget to blow out a candle and a fire breaks out, then that is covered. Expand your policy as needed against bicycle theft, glass breakage, or damage from natural hazards like flooding and earthquakes.
Less paperwork, everything in one app. Report a claim easily in the app; we guide you step by step. The policy can be canceled daily. Get your price in minutes and check off this annoying topic.

Who can get Contents insurance with Getsafe, and who is covered in my home?
Anyone living in Germany who is 18 or older can take out a policy for a home in Germany. Renters, owners, and those in shared flats or WGs are all welcome. Everyone living at the insured address is automatically covered, for example your partner, children, or flatmates.
When does my cover start, and is there a waiting period?
There is no waiting period. Cover starts on the date shown in your policy once your application is approved. You choose the start date during checkout, and it can be today or any future date. You are insured as soon as your first payment goes through.
What does the policy cover, and what is not covered?
Covered: fire, smoke, lightning and power surge, water from pipes, storm and hail, burglary, vandalism, and robbery. Also included: bikes at home, items you take with you, hotel costs if your home is uninhabitable, and protection against gross negligence.
Not covered: building parts (walls, floors), damage from war, wear and tear, or events you cause intentionally. Bikes stolen away from home need the bicycle add on.
How do I file a claim, and what do you need from me?
Open the Getsafe app, tap Claims, answer a few questions, then upload photos, receipts, and a short description. For burglary or robbery, report it to the police and share the report number. Take steps to limit further damage and do not throw items away until we confirm next steps. We keep you posted in the app.
Will you pay the replacement value or the current value?
In the event of a claim, we replace your items at replacement value. This means we pay you the price of an identical or equivalent new item, without deductions for age or wear. The reimbursement is limited to the agreed insurance sum. For certain categories, such as theft outside the home, there are additional maximum amounts. You can find all details in your policy documents.
How do I set my insurance sum?
You set your insurance sum in the app – simply based on your living space and what you own. If you provide correct information, the underinsurance waiver applies automatically. So you don't have to worry about reductions, even if your household contents are later worth more than originally estimated.
What does underinsurance waiver mean – and when does it apply?
The underinsurance waiver protects you from the insurance paying less in the event of a claim because your household contents are valued higher than your insurance sum. Requirement: Your information about living space and use is correct. If that's the case, you're on the safe side – regardless of the actual value of your furnishings.
