Digital insurer Getsafe is expanding its leadership team, bringing two new executives into its ranks, both with years of experience in the startup world. The company is thus setting itself up for its next phase of growth. Sarina Hergarten, formerly with neobroker Trade Republic and logistics scale up sennder, is taking on the newly created position of Chief People Officer (CHRO). Adrian Pica, most recently Vice President of Product in charge of Platform at Estonian mobility service Bolt, will be Chief Product Officer (CPO).

Christian Wiens, CEO and founder of Getsafe, says: "We now employ 230 people from 30 nations. In the coming years, we do not only want to continue on this course, but accelerate it. We are therefore very pleased that we have been able to recruit Sarina and Adrian, two executives who not only know the challenges of a growing tech organization, but already have experience mastering them."

Hergarten knows firsthand what it's like to double your workforce in a short period of time – multiple times. She built up HR at Trade Republic, leading multiple teams and overseeing more than 600 new hires. At sennder, Hergarten was responsible for all strategic HR projects, advised on change processes and new acquisitions, and led an HR Business Partner team. During her tenure, the workforce grew from 30 to more than 800 team members across four locations.

Hergarten will begin her new position as CHRO of Getsafe in December, and will manage topics including talent acquisition and employer branding, employee satisfaction, corporate culture and change, and HR business operations. She will also focus on the personal development of employees, coaching, and organizational development.

Sarina Hergarten explains: "During these uncertain times, attracting and retaining the right talent, building up organizational effectiveness, and collaborating across functional teams are key to success. At Getsafe, we will continue building upon the strong foundation of its inclusive and diverse culture. I believe Getsafe is in a unique position to democratize one of the largest industries by offering a flexible and easy to use solution for a whole generation in Europe, and I am thrilled to join Getsafe and to support this vision together with Management and the People Team.”

Christian Wiens adds: "Getsafe’s goal is to be the leading digital insurer in Europe. To quickly realize this vision, a strong organization and an ambitious though learning company culture are fundamental. Sarina stands for innovation in HR with a focus on talent management, scalable organizational design, and a high performance culture. This makes her the perfect fit for us.”

Adrian Pica has experience supporting companies during transformation processes and on their way to a billion-dollar valuation as well. He looks back on more than 20 years of experience in leadership roles in product management in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, with an excellent insider’s knowledge of billion-dollar tech corporations as well as emerging growth companies. In his new role as CPO, Adrian Pica will work with the tech and product teams to further develop the functionality, user experience, and design of the Getsafe app in particular. Previously, Pica was Vice President Platform at Bolt, responsible for the secure operation and scaling of the technology platform.

Christian Wiens found the personnel decision easy: "Adrian led teams spread across three continents and developed products used by millions of people around the world. He is not only an expert in digital products, but was also a founder himself. And he is driven by the desire to simplify the lives of millions of people with digital solutions. That's exactly what we're striving to do at Getsafe for the insurance industry. I've found Adrian to be an excellent sparring partner, and I'm excited that he's now bringing his extensive knowledge to us to make the Getsafe app even better."

Pica explains, "Insurance is definitely a sector that lags far behind when it comes to digital customer experience. Getsafe is a pioneer in this space with an exciting vision, a great team, an open culture and reputable investors behind it, and I'm excited to contribute to that success."

Getsafe plans to launch in France by the end of the year. The company is currently active in Germany, Great Britain and Austria, and has over 400,000 customers. The company’s turnover has tripled since adding life and health insurance to its product portfolio.
