Oh no, there it is: your first insurance damage. But don't worry: Whether contents, bicycle or liability insurance – with Getsafe you are covered well. Here you can find out how to file a claim, what needs to be considered, and also how you can contribute to your insurance claim being processed as quickly as possible.

A few basic hints on how to file a claim:

  1. If you want to protect what you care most about in life, do so immediately – before anything can happen at all. Because insurance is not acting retroactively.
  2. Think about one thing first: Is that really an insurance damage? Check your insurance policy before filing a claim.
  3. If you think it's an insurance claim, document it with photos.
  4. Someone noticed how the damage happened? All the better – exchange contact information. In case of doubt, your witness can confirm how the damage occurred.
  5. Keep the bills for your insured items, such as your bicycle or mobile phone, in a safe place. You will need them if you report a theft, for example.
  6. Only if Getsafe has all the necessary information, we can deal with your claim quickly. You can help us by providing complete and correct information on the case.
  7. The greater the damage, the longer the check may take. Don't worry, we haven't forgotten you! And: Even if it takes longer, we try to keep you informed about the status of your damage report.

File your insurance claim with Getsafe

No matter what insurance you have taken out with us: You always report your damage directly and quickly via the Getsafe app. This is possible at any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Simply go to the app and click on the “Service” button in the navigation bar below and then "File a claim".

Our chatbot Carla picks up your damage and guides you through the claim report step by step – it doesn't take longer than five minutes. (Tip: The more detailed you describe your damage to Carla, the better and faster she can process it.)

So far everything cleared up with Carla? Then she will ask you in an email to answer some final questions that are necessary to process the claim. If information is missing or if we do not understand your case yet, our insurance experts will contact you. You will also receive your claim ID from our customer service.

Reporting a claim often involves contacting the claimant and witnesses. This can sometimes take some time because they are for example difficult to reach or on holiday. We will keep you up to date on the status of your claim, even if we haven't made any progress yet.

When all questions are answered, we will send you an email with a decision and a statement of account.

Stay safe!
