Step-by-step: Cancelling your Getsafe insurance

It's important to be well covered. But sometimes, when your situation changes, your insurance needs might change too. What if you move in with your partner and they already have contents insurance? Then you won't need yours anymore. Switched to an old, rusty bike? Your bike insurance might not be worth it anymore. At Getsafe, we believe your insurance should be as flexible as you are, so we’ve made it quick and simple to cancel your insurance using our app! Here we explain how to do it step by step.

How to cancel your insurance in the Getsafe app:

  1. Open the Getsafe app on your smartphone. You should now see Safe Place, your personal home screen.
  2. At the bottom in the menu bar you will find the item "Coverage". Click on it.
  3. Your active insurance policies and how much you pay for them each month are displayed at the top of your screen. Click on the insurance you want to cancel.
  4. You will now see an overview of the selected insurance. Scroll all the way down to the bottom. There you will see the "Cancel coverage" button.
  5. You will then be asked to confirm the cancellation. If you want, you can tell us why you want to cancel or give us feedback. Or just keep it short and sweet and click "Confirm". That's it!

The cancellation will take effect one day after you complete this process. If you would like to cancel on a particular day in the future, simply send a message to our customer support ([email protected]) and let us know your cancellation date.

Please note, there are certain restrictions on cancelling our dental insurance. If you make a claim (e.g. for dental cleaning) within the first year of your contract, then you can only cancel after a period of one year from the date the claim was made. Cancellations made during this period will not come into effect until one year after the date of the claim.
