Do I really need dog liability insurance?
As the owner you are responsible for any damage your dog causes. One bite or a toppled bike can get very expensive. Dog Liability covers those costs so a bad moment does not drain your savings. It protects you and the people around you. Many landlords expect it, and it keeps travel and daily life simple.
What does Getsafe Dog Liability cover?
Your coverage is comprehensive: We cover personal injury and property damage to third parties up to 50 million euros per claim. This also includes damage to rented apartments and their furnishings (rental damages). Your dog is covered worldwide, even without a leash where permitted. Full protection remains even if your dog is with a dog sitter or in dog school.
What we don't cover: Damage to yourself or your own property, and normal wear and tear.
Is my dog covered off leash, with a sitter, or at dog school?
Yes. Off leash incidents are covered, as long as you follow local leash rules. Your dog is covered while with a sitter, walker, or a friend you trust. Training sessions and dog school visits are covered too. Traveling? Your cover goes with you worldwide.
When does my cover start, is there a waiting period?
Your cover starts on the policy start date you choose at checkout. There is no cover for events that happened before that date. There is no general waiting time for liability claims once your policy starts. You can see the start date in your documents and in the app.
