4. Compliance with Accessibility Requirements

Getsafe is committed to making its digital services accessible in accordance with the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG) and the associated regulation (BFSGV). The requirements are based on EN 301 549 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1).

4.1 Measures Implemented

The following accessibility measures have already been implemented:

  • Navigation aid: a “Skip to main content” link at the top of the page for keyboard users
  • Responsive design: the website adapts to different screen sizes and zoom levels
  • Clear page structure with hierarchically organised headings
  • Multilingual content: available in German and English
  • Alt texts are provided for images
  • No WCAG errors were identified in the Understandability category

4.2 Known Limitations

An automated audit conducted by Eye-Able on 09 April 2026 identified the following limitations, which we are working to resolve:

  • Text contrast (WCAG 1.4.3): Various text elements on the homepage – including headings, body text and footer links – do not yet meet the required minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1. Affected elements include texts styled with “text-color-tertiary” and several footer links. (40 errors, not fulfilled)
  • iFrame accessibility (WCAG 4.1.2): Multiple embedded Trustpilot iFrames share identical accessible names, which may be confusing for screen reader users. Some navigation elements also contain hidden focusable child elements. (5 errors, not fulfilled)
  • Link purpose (WCAG 2.4.9): For some links, the purpose cannot be determined from the link text alone. (30 instances, largely fulfilled)
  • Visible label in accessible name (WCAG 2.5.3): Two cookie buttons have aria-labels that do not fully match the visible text, which may impair voice control. (2 errors)
  • Alt text length: Some images have alt texts exceeding 80 characters, which is suboptimal for Braille display users. (Best practice, 81 instances)
  • Landmark regions: Some content areas (e.g. promotional banners, footer elements) are not wrapped in HTML5 landmark regions. (Best practice)

We are actively working to address the identified issues – in particular the contrast failures and iFrame labelling – as soon as possible. This statement will be updated once corrections have been implemented.

4.3 Conformance Status

Basis: Automated WCAG 2.1 audit by Eye-Able, conducted on 09 April 2026 on https://hellogetsafe.com/.

The website currently partially meets the requirements of WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Individual success criteria – in particular text contrast (1.4.3) and programmatic naming of UI elements (4.1.2) – are not yet fully met. The Understandability category is fully conformant. Remediation of the known issues is planned.

Note: This audit was conducted using automated tools only. A full manual audit has not yet been carried out and may identify additional or differing findings.
