Description
Life happens. We get it. Even when you're careful, things go sideways—you leave a scratch on the rental floor, spill coffee on someone else's laptop, or cause a minor bike accident. Liability insurance exists so your mistakes don't bankrupt you.
We pay when you accidentally injure others or damage their property. This includes worldwide coverage up to €50 million—because accidents don't check borders. Key extras are included: lost keys, even the lock replacement, and damage to rental property. You can also easily cover your family or your drone (which, by the way, is mandatory in Germany).
Report a claim in minutes via the app and speak to real people quickly. You can start today and cancel daily, giving you maximum freedom with minimal risk. With Safepoints, you save up to 30% for staying claim-free, because being careful should pay off.

Not covered
Damage to your own property
We do not pay for loss or damage to things you own.
Locksmith to open your door
We do not pay for a locksmith to open your own door after you lock yourself out. We only pay for replacing lost keys and the lock system.
Damage caused by your dog
Claims caused by your dog aren't covered by your Private Liability insurance. Simply add our Dog Liability insurance and protect your furry friend in minutes.
Motor vehicle accidents
Injuries or damage while using a motor vehicle are not covered by private liability. These are covered by mandatory motor liability insurance that you need for your car.
Family belongings: Not covered
If family members damage each other's property (e.g. sibling breaks another sibling's laptop), this is typically not covered as they are part of the same household.
Documents
Who can get this insurance and who is covered under one policy?
You can buy it if you live in Germany and are at least 18. It protects you in private life, worldwide. You are covered as the policyholder, with the Family add-on your partner and children, people who live with you temporarily, like an au pair, and cats and small pets are included too. Dogs are not covered.
When does coverage start and is there a waiting period?
You pick your start date during the purchase process. Your coverage begins exactly on that day, as confirmed in your policy, and there’s no waiting period. Important: We naturally can’t cover any damage that happened before your start date.
What does Getsafe Private Liability cover?
Financial claims if you accidentally injure someone or damage someone else's belongings in private life. For example damage to your rented flat, like floors or walls, loss of private or work keys, including lock replacement, accidents in sports or leisure, damage caused by cats and small pets. Limit: up to 50 million euros, worldwide. You can optionally cover drones up to 5 kg.
What is not covered?
Not covered are for example damage to your own property, pure glass damage, damage caused by your dog, costs for a locksmith service, car accidents and anything under motor insurance, normal wear and tear in a rented flat. Private liability also does not replace professional liability for your job.
How do I file a claim and what happens next?
Open the Getsafe app and report the incident. Tell us what happened, when, and who was involved. Add photos or documents if you have them.
We review your case, keep you updated in chat, and handle the process with the other party. Support is available 24 hours a day.
Am I covered abroad?
Yes. You are covered worldwide up to 50 million euros. If you move abroad for good, tell us, since the policy is designed for people who live in Germany.
